YAB DATO’ SRI MOHD NAJIB TUN ABDUL RAZAK &UNITED CHINESE SCHOOL COMMITTEES’ ASSOCIATION OF MALAYSIA (DONG ZONG)
Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak and the United Chinese School Committee’s Association of Malaysia (Dong Zong) today met at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya to discuss and exchange ideas on the betterment of Chinese education in Malaysia.
The meeting, among others had touched on the issue concerning the recognition of the United Examination Certificate (UEC) which relates to the application to enter Public Institutions of Higher Education (IPTA).
There was a discussion which requires students from Chinese medium schools to have at least a credit in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia’s (SPM) Bahasa Malaysia paper along with the UEC, as a condition for application into IPTA. There was also a discussion on the issue of accreditation of the UEC Bahasa Malaysia subject.
YAB Prime Minister said he will soon convene a meeting with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education to look into the proposal and to find a solution acceptable to all.
